Damp Diagnostic Techniques
Visual Inspection:
A thorough visual examination of the property's interior and exterior surfaces to identify signs of dampness, such as water stains, mold growth, blistering paint, or damp odors. Visual inspection provides initial clues about the presence and extent of damp issues.

Moisture Meters:
Moisture meters are handheld devices used to measure the moisture content of building materials, such as walls, floors, and ceilings. By assessing the moisture levels in different areas of the property, moisture meters help to pinpoint areas of dampness and assess the severity of the problem.
Thermal Imaging:
Thermal imaging cameras detect temperature variations in building materials, allowing inspectors to identify areas of moisture accumulation behind walls or under floors. Thermal imaging is particularly useful for detecting hidden moisture sources and diagnosing the extent of damp problems non-invasively.

Hygrometer Readings:
Hygrometers measure the relative humidity levels in the air. High humidity levels can contribute to condensation and dampness problems within the property. By monitoring humidity levels, inspectors can assess the indoor air quality and identify areas prone to dampness.

Probing and Sampling:
Probing involves inserting a moisture probe or needle into building materials to assess their moisture content and detect hidden dampness. Sampling may involve collecting samples of affected materials, such as plaster or wood, for laboratory analysis to identify the type of damp and underlying causes.
Building History and Observations:
Gathering information about the property's construction history, previous damp treatments, and maintenance practices can provide valuable insights into the underlying causes of dampness. Observations about the property's location, drainage, and ventilation also contribute to the diagnosis process.

Mould Testing:
Mould testing involves collecting air or surface samples to identify the presence of mold spores and assess indoor air quality. Mould testing helps inspectors determine the extent of mold contamination and its potential impact on occupants' health.

Building Regulations Compliance Check:
Inspectors assess whether the property complies with relevant building regulations and standards for damp proofing, ventilation, and drainage. Non-compliance with building regulations may contribute to dampness issues and require remedial action to ensure the property's structural integrity and safety.
What Our Clients Say
SP
Tiles were letting by water in bathroom causing damp issues below. New shower cubicle and tiles installed. Was extremely happy with the work carried out. The office kept me up to date and the engineer was extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant to communicate with. Def recommend.

I'd spoken to various companies about the ongoing damp issues in my flat, but nobody was really able to get to the source of the problem until Redring sent over a damp specialist. Finally the issue has been fixed and my walls and ceilings look as good as new. Highly recommend.

I met Stephen of Redring this week, by coincidence, a situation popped up where he could help the following day. He and Redring have been knowledgeable, quick to attend and swift in follow up - I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Stephen and everyone at Redring for such great service.
