Damp Proofing Techniques
Damp Proof Course (DPC):
A physical barrier typically installed during construction to prevent rising damp from ascending through walls. DPCs are commonly made of materials such as bitumen felt, plastic, or slate.

Integral Damp Proofing:
Integral damp proofing involves incorporating water-repellent additives into the concrete mix during construction. These additives react with moisture to form a crystalline structure within the concrete, blocking the passage of water.
Surface Tanking:
Surface tanking is the application of a waterproof membrane or coating to the interior surface of below-ground walls or floors. This technique creates a barrier that prevents moisture penetration, commonly used in basements or below-ground structures.

Injection Damp Proofing:
Injection damp proofing involves the injection of a chemical damp-proofing fluid or cream into the mortar joints or masonry of existing walls. The injected material forms a barrier against moisture, effectively preventing rising damp.

External Tanking:
External tanking involves applying a waterproof membrane or coating to the external surface of below-ground walls or foundations. This technique prevents groundwater from seeping into the structure, effectively waterproofing the below-ground areas.

Cavity Drain Membrane Systems:
Cavity drain membrane systems consist of a network of dimpled plastic membranes installed against the interior surface of walls or floors. These membranes create an air gap that allows moisture to drain away to a sump or drainage channel, keeping the internal space dry

Waterproof Renders and Plasters:
Waterproof renders and plasters are applied to the interior or exterior surfaces of walls to provide a waterproof barrier. These cementitious or polymer-based coatings effectively seal porous surfaces and prevent water ingress.

External Waterproofing:
External waterproofing involves applying waterproof membranes or coatings to the exterior surface of below-ground walls or foundations. This technique prevents groundwater from penetrating the structure, protecting it from dampness and water damage

Grouting and Repointing:
Grouting and repointing involve filling in gaps or cracks in masonry joints with a waterproof mortar or grout. This helps to seal the building envelope and prevent moisture ingress through mortar joints, effectively damp proofing the structure.
What Our Clients Say
SP
Tiles were letting by water in bathroom causing damp issues below. New shower cubicle and tiles installed. Was extremely happy with the work carried out. The office kept me up to date and the engineer was extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant to communicate with. Defo recommend.

I'd spoken to various companies about the ongoing damp issues in my flat, but nobody was really able to get to the source of the problem until Redring sent over a damp specialist. Finally the issue has been fixed and my walls and ceilings look as good as new. Highly recommend.
Jack B
I met Stephen of Redring this week, by coincidence, a situation popped up where he could help the following day. He and Redring have been knowledgeable, quick to attend and swift in follow up - I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Stephen and everyone at Redring for such great service.
